A hiker stumbled upon a human skull in a wooded area of Rock Creek Regional Park on Saturday, March 1, and immediately called 911, Montgomery County Police said.
Officers from Montgomery County Police and the Maryland National Capital Park Police responded to the scene, where they found additional human bones along with clothing items, including a winter hat, jacket, and pants.
No identification was recovered at the site, officials said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined the remains belonged to a Hispanic man in his late teens, standing approximately 5-foot-5.
The cause and manner of death remain under investigation. Detectives are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the victim.
